HBO Latino has acquired U.S. and North America pay TV and SVOD rights to Argentina’s biggest local box office hit in 2017, Ariel Winograd’s comedy “Mamá se fue de Viaje” (“10 Days Without Mom.”)

Also one of South America’s highest-grossing movies of the year, “10 Days” has sold in total some 1.7 million tickets, earning about $9.4 million to date.

The U.S. theatrical rights of the film have been taken by Miami Dade in Miami.

Produced by Patagonik, a joint venture between Disney and Argentina broadcast group Artear, “10 Days” bowed July 6 to place No. 3 but surged 7% in its second week for a total 685,233 admissions, about $3.8 million, surpassing Ricardo Darín’s “Black Snow” in their race to become the highest-grossing Argentine hit of the year.

Guido Rud’s Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks Intl., a long-time title-by-title Patagonik sales company partner, is pushing out international sales.

On the eve of Mipcom, which begins Monday in Cannes, FilmSharks has unveiled several distribution deals, including Cinecolor for Peru, Chile and Colombia, 39 Escalones Films for Spain and Royal Seal Media for China. Spafax and Global Eagle bought inflight rights.

Turkey, Australia, Brazil, France, German-speaking territories and Italy are in discussion, Guido Rud said.

Remake negotiations with a U.S. studio in several versions are in talks and will be disclosed by November’s American Film Market, he added.

“10 Days” marks director Ariel Winograd third hit with Patagonik, after 2015’s “No Kids” and last year’s “Permitidos.”

In the film, well-known Argentine comedian Diego Peretti and actress Carla Peterson play Victor and Vera, a couple married for 20 years who has four children. Absorbed by his work activity, Víctor lives outside the daily life of his wife and children. Overwhelmed by domestic chores, Vera decides one day to take a vacation from her family.

In previously announced deals, Disney/Buena Vista Intl. snagged South American distribution rights to “10 Days,” while VCS Capital acquired Mexican remake rights. Also, Wiesner Distribution took Central America and AV Jet bought Taiwanese rights.
